Our adventures across the great plains took us to Jewel Cave, outside Custer and near the Black Hills. We were all ready for a break from the car ride and an underground hike seemed like a good opportunity. Jewel Cave is the second largest cave in the world. Our trip was only for about a half mile of the area, and was entirely on a path with a tour guide, Laura, who Caden quickly befriended.
It was a good excursion to see a number of calcite crystal-encrusted walls and it was a fun experience.
